ANIMAL ARKAID
Supporting animals in need since 2010
A BRIEF HISTORY OF
ANIMALARKAID
January 2021 and the country was entering in to its 3rd lockdown of the pandemic. Things had not stood still at Animal ArkAid though and we had two very exciting pieces of news to share with our followers and supporters. Firstly, Animal ArkAid was officially awarded registered charity status thanks to the incredible hard work by Rita's husband David for putting our application together. And most recently, we have been able to launch our online shop over on Facebook thanks to the generous donations from people in the local community. In the first 3 weeks of the shop being online, we managed to raise over £300 and that is increasing every day. Looking forward in 2021, we have our new look website launching in March as well as the return of some of our face to face events later in the year - watch this space!

In March 2020, the world came to a stand still as COVID-19 took hold of our lives. This meant that Animal ArkAid could not continue with our usual events such as our fantastic Dog Show, Quiz Curry Nights and Dogs Christmas Party. Instead, we had to adapt to the rapidly changing situation and move our events online with our inaugural Virtual Pet Show, where for the first time, people could showcase their cats and small animals as well as their dogs. This was a hugely successful event and meant that we could continue to support the work our charities do to help animals in need. Our October Pet Portrait competition gave us an opportunity to sell our first Animal ArkAid calendar to boost our fundraising efforts even more. Congratulations to all of our winners in that competition. Our final event for 2020 was our Pet Jumper Competition - we asked you to dress your pet in their best festive attire and you did not disappoint. Another hugely successful online event. Thank you to all of those who supported us with that.

2016 and 2017 were both successful years with lots of events including curry nights, a Dogs Christmas Party and of course our annual dog shows! We also helped release Hedgehogs into the wild after being rehabilitated and Rita continued to foster rabbits for Camp Nibble.
